Biz/ed is an economics and business gateway specifically designed for students, lecturers and teachers of business and economics across the educational spectrum. Biz/ed is designed to provide a comprehensive one-stop shop of educational resources in business and economics. The course will be presented by Biz/ed and will be of interest to Business and Social Sciences staff.
The course will focus on the creation of web materials and interactive assessment materials using a free package called CALnet to create web pages and interactive web-based questions. This day will be suitable for people teaching in any subject area who are interested in creating web materials.
The main focus of this day will be on finding quality web resources, providing an overview of a range of JISC and other electronic resources. This will include the use of portals and gateways like the Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG) and other RDN subject hubs. One of the aims of the course will be to look at ways in which the resources discovered, can be integrated into courses and course materials, including re-purposing them and adding questions and other learning tools. The course may be of interest to a range of lecturing staff.

This workshop aims to identify gaps in current provision of ICT training and awareness provision and make recommendations for future studies. Of interest to: Senior managers, particularly thos with responsibility for the provision of ICT training and awareness. National agencies and bodies with a remit for the provision and support of staff development.
The workshop is aimed at extended learning support staff in Further Education but may be of interest to academic staff involved in supporting disabled students or IT staff who wish to know more about assistive technologies. TASI in conjunction with Visual Arts Technology Staff Development for Scottish Art Schools is pleased to announce two workshops to be held at the Glasgow School of Art this February, for those involved in creating or using digital images.
Help for teaching staff, researchers, librarians and computing service staff to quickly locate suitable images, manipulate and then place them into Web pages and PowerPoint presentations.
Through its visionary DNER programme the JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) is attempting to join-up the huge collections of multimedia and electronic resources so that these are easily accessible at the most relevant point of use to students, researchers and staff across the Higher and Further Education sectors. The rapid and extensive uptake of Virtual Learning Environments for teaching and learning now means that these environments are a vitally important port of access for students. But how are the DNER and VLEs interlinked and what are some of the issues for librarians in supporting VLEs?

The NLN Materials Development team are arranging a series of 1-day conferences aimed at ILT managers and Staff Development Managers. These events will investige e-learning and some of the issues surrounding the changes needed in order to provide effective support for e-learning. Focussing on the use of NLN materials, delegates will have a chance to hear how e-learning has developed within a college, how e-learning materials are being used within the classroom, and will have the opportunity to discuss processes and challenges.
