The RSC forums in Scotland and JISC list membership is open to staff from Scottish Further and Higher Education. RSC forums are run for the benefit of the community and are driven by the technology-related issues that the community most wants to explore. They are self-help groups where expertise is shared within the members of the group. Membership and attendance of JISC RSC forums is free, however the RSC may levy a small charge to cover catering costs.
Expert or commercial speakers may be invited to contribute to meetings at the request of forum members. Membership is not available to persons working for commercial enterprise. Exceptions may be allowed at the discretion of the list owners, if the commercial would-be list member has knowledge or expertise which the list owners feel could be useful to the list community.
The e-Portfolio Scotland forum was established after a successful event which focussed on disseminating a number of projects and future trends with the use of e-Portfolios.
With many institutions now looking at implementing an e-Portfolio solution, the forum provides a mechanism for interested parties to come together and share their experiences of the technology. You might be interested in finding out what software is being used, and how institutions came to make their choices from the platforms that are on offer. Perhaps you'd like to learn more about how students can be encouraged to get the best out of the software. Or maybe you want to find others to collaborate with to develop this area. Whatever the reason, you're likely to find others with similar interests.

Whether you are looking for support from other Blackboard users or just want to find out more information about how other institutions use their VLE, you might want to come along to one of our Scot-BUG meetings. There are usually three meetings per year or by demand, depending on pressing issues. The meetings are interesting demonstrations from members of the group, showcasing their recent upgrades and best practice, followed by open discussion on current issues or problems. At some meetings we invite Blackboard representatives along to clarify any questions. For more information go to http://www.scot-bug.org.uk

The SMUG forum is jointly hosted by the two Scottish Regional Support Centres, alternating venues between Glasgow and Edinburgh two or three times per year. The absence of any Moodle salesmen ensures meetings are a frank exchange of views with a "warts and all" approach. Members and guest speakers demonstrate their Moodle installations, upgrade features and add on blocks and there is plenty of face to face discussion on hosting, best practice and most importantly, pitfalls to avoid!

There are often presentations made to the forum by suppliers, JANET or other colleges/HEIs on various technical issues or services that are of interest at the time. Forum members can also post questions and discuss points on the jiscmail mailing list that is managed by the RSC.
