The JISC supports the UK further and higher education (FE and HE) sectors by providing the expertise, independent advice, guidance and resources to promote the effective and innovative use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

JISC Advance Logo.JISC Advance


JISC Advance is a not-for-profit company financed by grants from the UK funding councils for further and higher education. Governed by a board of directors drawn from across the sector, each of the funding councils are represented to provide their knowledge and expertise.

Consisting of eight advisory and complementary services, JISC Advance will coordinate and develop upon the provision of excellence within the education and learning sectors, providing inspiration and advice to support the innovative use of technology.

JISC Services Case Studies

In a series of case studies developed in 2009, JISC services demonstrate how the expertise within the services has been used to the benefit learning providers in the FE sector and the learners studying within them. Each case study illustrates how a provider in the FE sector has overcome challenges, gained skills and improved the learning experience of its learners as a result of a relationship forged with a JISC service. JISCinfoNet is a centre of expertise in the planning and implementation of information systems. The JISCinfoNet service will be developed to support and enable planners, implementers and practitioners in further and higher education to understand, innovate and use new technological developments that support learning, teaching and business processes.


JISC Legal Logo.JISC Legal (JISC Legal Information Service)

The JISC Legal (JISC Legal Information Service) provides legal resources for FE and HE, particularly for those working in Information Services. JISC Legal aims to give non-lawyers the information they need to make decisions, stay inside the law and assist with legal compliance issues. It provides up-to-date information on the law as it affects ICT users throughout the sector via its Web site, workshops and email enquiry service.

Netskills develops and provides quality Internet training services to facilitate the effective use of Internet and Intranet technologies for teaching and learning.


TechDis Logo.JISC TechDis

JISC TechDis provides information and advice on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to support students and staff with disabilities in the HE and FE sectors. The TechDis Accessibility Database provides an on-line resource of information about products, which are available to assist those with disabilities.

JISC Digital Media, formerly TASI, exists to help the UK's FE and HE communities embrace and maximise the use of digital media - and to achieve solutions that are innovative, practical and cost effective.


JISCMail Logo.JISCMail

The National Academic Mailing List Service, known as 'JISCMail', is a service designed specifically for the further and higher education and research communities. JISCMail uses the world wide web and e-mail to enable groups of academics and support staff to talk to each other and to share information. There are thousands of groups covering many categories. If you are unable to find a group on your chosen subject and you can satisfy the JISC criteria, you may start a group of your own.

JISC Procureweb is a procurement support service, for the UK Higher and Further Education Sectors and Research Councils. Procureweb provides a wide range of procurement related tools, information, systems and support to anyone who participates in the procurement process.

JISC Regional Support Centre UK exists to advise the learning providers of designated sectors in realising their ambitions in the deployment of ICT to achieve their organisational goals. The network of JISC RSCs operates as a national service, responsive to local needs through a strong sense of local ownership.
